6 Things You Need To Know About Abortion

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tags: , , , — patriciaholdenmd @ 6:16 pm

Here are some abortion facts I found in the Guttmacher Institute’s website. I’ve decided to post these after the news about the 20 – 20 tie vote for the abortion requirement bill in Florida. The bill would require all women in Florida to undergo ultrasound before the abortion itself. Here are the facts (note that these is for the US only).

* Nearly half of all pregnancies to American women are unintended; four in 10 of these end in abortion.

* About half of American women have experienced an unintended pregnancy, and at current rates more than one-third (35%) will have had an abortion by age 45.

* Overall unintended pregnancy rates have stagnated over the past decade, yet unintended pregnancy increased by 29% among poor women while decreasing 20% among higher-income women.

* In 2005, 1.21 million abortions were performed, down from 1.31 million abortions in 2000.

* Nine in 10 abortions occur in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

* A broad cross section of U.S. women have abortions:
o 56% of women having abortions are in their 20s;
o 61% have one or more children;
o 67% have never married;
o 57% are economically disadvantaged;
o 88% live in a metropolitan area; and
o 78% report a religious affiliation.

There are different opinions regarding abortion between the pro-life people and the pro-choice side. I’m still open for opinions regarding the issue so don’t hesitate to post your comment. Let me hear your thoughts!

  1. when u use plants to “bring down your period” it’s a less traumatic experience, As in, no trauma. The whole alien abduction suck it out of you while unconscious experience, leaves a scar.

  3. i just wanted to say that I may only be 16 years old, but I think that teen pregnancy is going to happen. And I think that there should be an age limmit on the abortion level. I think that there should be a law saying that if a teenager gets themselves pregnant before the age of…. then they should be required to keep the baby to learn that what they did is all on them and that they should have no say in whether they kill the baby or keep it. Abortion, in my opinion, is totally and 100% wrong in every way. Whether your 16 or 30….. Thank you!

  5. i think abortion is the most horrible thing ever! who could kill an helpless baby, if you are stupid enough to open your legs, then you should have to keep the baby as a lesson&& give it up to parents who will love it and who have wanted a baby. i mean after an abortion most girls go back out to whoreoff like nothing ever happend dude, and thats redicolous!!! serously girl think about sex before you do it, things happen and you should know that before going into it.

    kthx

  6. if u dnt want to have an abortion then dnt but why would u ruin someone elses chance of doing what they want. its there baby it is their option. if someone want to have an abortion why should anyone else care. u may not know that persons story on why they are getting and abortion. some women have been forced to have sex and get pregnant. if u arent for abortion should u really step in her way and not let her get one. is it wrong to not have the baby of some random man? let woman have their own say in what they do.

  7. I am one of those ppl that can argue both sides. But what I want to say now is this: Today there are SO MANY horrible parents. The Child abuse rate is too high and every yr. it gets worst! Lets think about the majority of women who have abortions. Most of then, obviously, don’t want to be a mom. So just b/c they made a dumb decision and got pregnant doesn’t mean they should keep the child, especially if they are going to be neglectful and/or abusive! Of course I don’t feel like the baby should die just b/c the babies parents are….irresponsible. Really I wish ppl talked more about adoption. In this case it is a win for everybody.
